When they are twelve months they approach toys or play with items when a stranger smiles at them but avoids them and express fear when the person shows a different expression. They use the emotional intelligence of the people around them to evaluate the appropriateness of their behavior. This skill develops further when children attain the age of 2-3 years as their communication skills develop further. At five years of age they can realize and explain the causes of sadness or happiness in their friends (Schore, 2015). Between six to nine years children rely on both internal and external information to interpret emo tions and people experience different emotions. In addition, they realize that each situation elicits a varying reaction from people and learn how to interpret and interpret different non verbal communication techniques. * Emotional Attachment by Bowlbys TheoryJohn Bowlby, a British child psychiatrist defines emotional attachment as the ability of a child to be attached to a parent and show affection to siblings and the people around it. Bowlby argues that emotional attachment between a mother and her child helps to improve the bond between them and keep the child close to its mother to increase its chances of survival. This scholar described emotional attachment as the strongest psychological connection between human beings. People become very connected to those who are near them in times of stress and tribulations and this connection lasts for a very long time. According t o Bowlby emotional attachment becomes stronger when individuals spend more time together and do things that help each other (Meins, 2013). Insecure attachment occurs when the mother leaves a child alone and thus makes it uncomfortable and stressed. * Stages of AttachmentThere are four stages of emotional attachment and each occurs at a different time and age of an individuals life. The second stage consists of indiscriminate attachment and occurs between 6-7 months when children enjoy contact with other people but are very choosy and avoid strangers. The third stage (specific attachment) occurs between the ages of 7 months and the child shows protect when taken a way from the mother or caregiver. They usually develop their first attachment and so they fear strangers who would like to take them away from their mothers (Meins, 2013). The last stage is called multiple attachments and here the child becomes comfortable and friendly with siblings, relatives, family friends and regular visitors. However, their attachment remains stronger with the people who are always close to them. * Factors Promoting AttachmentThere are various factors that promote attachment between children and their mothers and the people around them. Pride And Prejudice By Jane Austen Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice is the story of an English family in the early 1800's. The central theme in the story is the necessity of making a good marriage for each of the five daughters in the Bennet family. Elizabeth Bennet is the central character in the novel and the second oldest daughter. The role of her sisters' characters influence Elizabeth's thoughts about her own romantic interest, Fitzwilliam Darcy, throughout the novel. Lydia Bennet, Elizabeth's youngest sister plays an important role in Elizabeth's feelings for Darcy. Ultimately, Lydia's improper behavior brings Elizabeth and Darcy together, justifying Austen's portrayal of Lydia as an uncivilized, idle, and irrational young woman. Lydia Bennet's role in Pride and Prejudice is twofold. She is the first of five daughters to be married which supports the novel's main theme of the necessity of making a good marriage. Her elopement with Wickham brings disgrace to the family, nevertheless, she does marry which satisfies her mother's wish to see all of her daughters marry well. "The business of her life was to get her daughters married." (Vol. I, Chapter 1). Lydia's role is also that of her mother's favorite daughter. She is like her mother in many ways; insensitive, simple, and brassy. "In Lydia's imagination, a visit to Brighton comprised every possibility of earthly happiness. She saw herself seated beneath a tent, tenderly flirting with at least six officers at once." (Vol. II, Chapter 18). Lydia is the complete opposite of Elizabeth who is sensitive, intelligent, and considerate. Austen uses Lydia's rash behavior as a means for Elizabeth, the central character, to understand that Darcy is "the man who, in disposition and talents, would most suit her." (Vol. III, Chapter 8) Throughout the novel Elizabeth misunderstands Darcy's intentions and actions, and rejects his initial proposal of marriage believing that they are ill-suited. When Lydia elopes with Wickham, Elizabeth is mortified but realizes that Darcy's previous accusations against Wickham and her family were justified. "Oh! how heartily did she grieve over every ungracious sensation she had ever encouraged, every saucy speech she had ever directed towards him." (Vol. III, Chapter 10) Darcy arranges the proper marriage of Lydia and Wickham, saving the entire Bennet family from disrespect and embarrassment. When Elizabeth attempts to thank Darcy he admits "that the wish of giving happiness to you...led me on, I thought only of you." (Vol. III, Chapter 16) Lydia's reckless, improper behavior provides the catalyst for the engagement of Elizabeth and Darcy. Throughout the novel, Lydia is portrayed as an uncivilized, idle, irrational 16 year old girl. She is lacking in common sense and good judgment, disregarding the consequences of her actions. "Look here, I have bought this bonnet. I do not think it is very pretty; but I thought I might as well buy it as not." (Vol. II, Chapter 16). When Lydia returns to her family after eloping with Wickham she shows no remorse for the disgrace she brought to the family. "She turned from sister to sister, demanding their congratulations...she went after dinner to show her ring and boast of being married." (Vol. III, Chapter 9). After the marriage of Elizabeth and Darcy, Lydia continued her disregard for common decency as shown in a letter to her sister; "Wickham would like a place at court very much, and I do not think we shall have quite money enough to live upon without some help." (Vol. III, Chapter 19). Throughout Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, Lydia Bennet is portrayed as an uncivilized and irrational young woman; the youngest of five sisters who is the first to marry. Lydia is a minor character in the story in comparison to her older sister, Elizabeth, but she plays a major role in the marriage of her sister and Darcy. It is Lydia's improper behavior (elopement) that opens Elizabeth's eyes to Darcy's true goodness and affection, allowing her to admit her love for him. Both central characters are able overcome their pride and prejudice, admit their own faults, and build a stable, happy marriage.

Most of the time, the varying moods of children tend to start an argument over petty things nevertheless I really enjoyed such service because the experience made me feel young again. The second, reason why I volunteer in an Irving Elementary School was to show my daughter that I am interested in her education, and because this will give my daughter a positive message that I am considering her school a worthwhile cause. Also, volunteering is a huge resource and support for the school community while its showing the kids the importance of participating in the community. Meanwhile volunteering in my daughter school will gain a first- hand of my daughter daily activities and some insight into trends and fads of school life that will help me communicate with my daughter as she grows and changes. Beside, volunteering at my daughter school gave me the opportunity to go on a field trip, which this gave me the chance to get to know all of the kids in her class. This proved to be a blessing to carrying on meaningful conversation with my daughter about her peer interactions. As well, volunteering at my daughter school gave me a basic idea of what my child should be learning and mastering. It also, exposes me to children of different backgrounds and incomes. In addition, your learn more about your child school district and will be able to knowledge it when it comes to school board decisions. Not only, will you gain the trust of children you help, you will gain the respect of the teacher who so desperately need all the help they can get. You will see the needs of each classroom and know invariably what they are lacking in tools and resources to be the best place for the children to learn. Organizational Behavior at My Company Essay To understand how the concept of organizational behavior can be applied and described through the work environment of My Company, I will first explore a general definition of what Organizational Behavior is and then relate how the individual components apply. According to Stephen Robbins, author of our Organizational Behavior textbook, Organizational behavior is a field of study that investigates the impact that individuals, groups, and structure have on behavior within organizations for the purpose of applying such knowledge toward improving an organizations effectiveness(9). The first component of this definition is to see the impact that the individuals have, followed by the impact of the groups, and then finally the impact of the structure. I will expand on each of these areas and relate them to the current practices within My Company. It is probable that the single most prevalent aspect of organizational behavior through the eyes of an employee would be the impact that they personally have on the company. What this implies, is that when I try to describe the impact individuals have to the company, it will be solely from my perspective as a non-managerial employee. Had my perspective been from that of an employee in a management-level position, it would most likely differ. From the experiences that I have had in the two and a half years that I have worked at My Company, it seems to me that individuals are encouraged to take the initiative to make their work as productive as possible. I have been part of many changes that have been initiated by non-management level employees to try and streamline and improve efficiencies within the company. This has led me to believe that one of the in-use espoused values is that of empowering all levels of employees with the ability to make changes that will directly affect their p articular areas. When evaluating the group component and how that relates to the My Company environment, I am going to make the assumption that a group is the equivalent of a department. These departmental segregations help to increase internal accountability and define what each group will be responsible for. Each group has its own independent structure and operates a little differently depending on the style of the individual manager. Many of these groups (departments) can be broken down into subgroups to further delegate  components of work. The outcome is that within each department or group there is a hierarchy where you will find different forms of leadership. Some of these subgroup leaders lead by being experts in their fields rather than having a title of being a manager. Within my group there is a distinct leader that I work for. I have found that if I am struggling with a project or if I cannot define the scope of a job that I am working on often times I can rely on help from the leader of my group to help achieve the desired results. If for some reason components (individuals) within my subgroup started to perform poorly, the outcome could have serious consequences to the productivity of our entire department. Conversely, if we were able to drastically improve performance metrics for our areas of responsibility, we would then be able to offset some work from other areas within the group. This interdependence of the subgroups has helped our group to have more control of the aspects that will impact how productively the company will continue to be going forward. Through the process of defining the groups within My Company, I have made reference to the internal group structure. Instead of rehashing this same information and tying it back to the structural component mentioned in the definition of organizational behavior, I am going to relate how my manager is able to structure her team to be as effective and productive as possible. Looking through the four essential management functions (Robbins 5) defined in our reading material, (planning, organizing, leading and controlling) I am able to see how my manager struggles to constantly apply these ideas in her day to day responsibilities. Our group organizes weekly meetings where we try to plan what tasks we would like to undertake in the near future. My manager is responsible for keeping these meetings in focus so that overall group objectives are met. Through controlling and delegating within these meetings, she has shown the ability to lead our group and utilize different strengths of individuals to maximize our effectiveness. Being able to take more of an observational role in this situation has helped me to understand the different idiosyncrasies that exist within our company and department. By identifying these quirks I feel that I am able to better understand how many of the different internal components and people must work together in order to achieve desired results. Potsdam Conference, meeting of the heads of government of the United States, the USSR, and the United Kingdom, following the unconditional surrender of Germany in World War II. It was held in Potsdam, near Berlin, from July 17 to August 2, 1945. The purpose of the conference was the implementation of decisions reached previously at the Yalta Conference. The U.S. was represented by President Harry S. Truman and the USSR by Premier Joseph Stalin. The United Kingdom was represented at first by Prime Minister Winston Churchill and later by the new prime minister, Clement Richard Attlee. A communiquà © issued at the close of the conference, and known as the Potsdam Agreement, contained the decisions reached by the participants. The principal decisions related to Germany. Administration of the country, until the establishment of a permanent new government, was transferred to the military commanders of the U.S., the USSR, the United Kingdom, and France, in their zones of occupation, and a four-power Allied Control Council was created to resolve questions pertaining to Germany as a whole. Pending definitive settlement in a peace treaty, all lands east of the Odra (Oder) and Neisse rivers were placed under Polish and Soviet jurisdiction. It was agreed that the four occupying powers of Germany should take reparations from their respective zones of occupation; but, because the USSR had suffered greater loss than any of the other major powers, provision was made for additional compensation to the USSR. Rigid measures of control were decided on in the Potsdam Conference to prevent Germany from ever again becoming a threat to world peace. The conferees determined to disarm the country and prevent remilitarization; to outlaw the National Socialist (Nazi) Party that had been led by Hitler; to decentralize the economy and reorganize it with emphasis on agriculture; and to encourage democratic practices. On July 26, the U.S., British, and Chinese governments issued an ultimatum, called the Potsdam Declaration, to the Japanese government, confronting Japan with a choice between unconditional surrender and total annihilation; the USSR was not then at war with Japan and was not a party to the ultimatum.

There are many aspects to running a successful organization. The dream of running a business initially starts off as a vision in the mind of the founder. That vision materializes into the mission statement, and progresses on to becoming an organization worthy of being put into a business plan. After completion of the many administrative and legal steps required, one must make sure to hire good people. A successful business will start with positive human interaction. The people of the organization must have the skillset to progressively advocate, not only for the clients, but also for that of the organization. The members of our organization must have the ability to see the vision and the willingness to work hard to make the organization successful. I will discuss the leadership that will best benefit our dream organization based on our staff input. I will also discuss from a systems perspective what organizational force will energize human services to our staff and clients. I will ad dress the six functions that are salient which work together and contribute to the efficiency of the dream organization, and last, but not least, I will discuss the leadership role in the conceptual framework for human service management. I believe our dream organization to be diverse in all aspects. A diverse model would suit the needs of the community, but I would have to say both the diverse and visionary model would best accommodate the needs of all staff involved with the growth of the organization. As stated in an article I read, people often associate qualities to the leaders that are inherent in the personality of the leader. Credible leadership reflects concerns about image, professional appearances are key to success (Chin, 2011). Leaders need to acknowledge the challenges in making decisions in diverse organizations; â€Å"become more comfortable with tension and complexity†; one must be more strategic in their thinking, considering diversity issues in the context of mission, vision, and strategy (Lewis, Packard, & Lewis,  2012). The founder will set the example of behavior by encouraging respect for all staff members. Management will promote understanding of values and traditions from the diverse population the organization will provide service to. Strong leadership has a trickle-down effect. If our management team is strong, the staff will follow. A diverse leadership that has a vision to lead will show our clients that anything they put their mind to is attainable. Goals were set by each staff member and as a team we all brainstormed those goals to make sure they were attainable and met the needs of the organization. Our organization provides a service to the females of our community and it is important that we impact their lives by the examples we set as management. We will employ a diverse population of females from all aspects of life to support our organizational desire to provide needed services to our community. We will have interns from the college on site with hopes of being financially able to hire those showing to be outstanding with their volunteer ability. Staff will have input in how the operation is run. We will also give the client a chance to provide input as they work through our program. The life skill classes we will be providing will enhance the client’s desires and expectations in life. The Contingency Theory of leadership theory basically suggest that there is no one way to lead and every situation is differently and the different behaviors are appropriate for different situations (Lewis, Packard, & Lewis, 2012). The systems perspective is full of subsystems according to Lewis, Packard, and Lewis (2012), all subsystems work together first with planning, budgeting, designing, staffing, supervising, evaluating which are all important to the systems. Without one you cannot proceed to the other (Lewis, Packard, & Lewis, 2012). Leadership must look at the  subsystems, and make sure the organization is on track. Management must make sure to have the proper skillset of employee in each department. All six sub-systems must work together to assure the success of the organization. One of the images in the reading showed leadership to be the center of the organization. Leadership is surrounded by designing, budgeting, staffing, supervising, planning, monitoring and evaluating. I would hold to that order and consider it a key to success. In conclusion, our dream organization will make sure we hold to the vision of the founder while keep the mission statement in mind as we provide service to the community. After reading the many different leadership styles available to various organizations, I have come to the conclusion that is to the advantage of the organization to input a little of all the various means of leadership into the organization in order to successfully run the organization. There is no right or wrong way and you must tweak the various leaderships in order to create the one that will best suit your organization. When we look at the system and the systems perspective and evaluated how they work, it is key that the leader manage them and understand how each system operates. Management must give positive direction and clear instruction as to what the outcome should be at any given stage. Pink Floyd Song Analysis - 1229 Words

â€Å"Time is gone the song is over†, now what? In life humanity craves more time. Time is the one fixation we cannot get enough of. Since humanity is required to age, time seems to slip away. We don’t comprehend how time is synthesized. Society knows it goes on forever, regardless of what happens in life. Pink Floyd’s album, Dark Side Of The Moon, had immense success. It was recorded in the summer of 1972 on Capital records. The song Time was written by Roger Waters and recorded in the progressive era of rock and roll. The song is important because it demonstrates how people don’t realize that time slips away. The song displays this by means of engineering, instruments, lyrics, and arrangement. Preceding the instrumental symbolism we incorporate true inst ruments. The keyboard illustrates a relaxed tone in the background. After this the song leads into tom- tom drums, keeping up with the pace of the keyboard. Bestowing you with the essences of time running out. According to the website www.songfacts.com, â€Å"At the time of recording only a few tom-tom drums were available for the intro. To get the right mix and sound, the band had to tune each drum after hitting it, record it, and then blend and mix into a finalized percussion track†. Preceding the introduction the drums give one last tom and the lyrics approach. During the lyrics there is a combination of instruments. These include, guitars, drums, and keyboards. The instruments and vocals take a slow relaxed approach during this vocal stanza. Throughout the song when the lyrics move toward a revelation about what is occurring with time the instruments and vocals take the same relaxed approach.
